The Department of Population Health and Health Disparities (PHHD) is the single department that connects all SPPH departments, serving as the central clearinghouse bridging public health practice, research approaches, implementation science, and behavioral interventions. While colleagues in epidemiology and biostatistics identify trends—such as links between non-medical drivers and health outcomes—PHHD faculty integrate those findings with social justice frameworks and mixed methods to extend full humanity to all people. Our collective responsibility is to improve the health of populations who are unlikely to experience well-being without our commitment, and our work in research, teaching, mentoring, and service. This is why we chose public and population health as our life’s work. To learn more, please visit the department website.
