The Department of Biostatistics & Data Science is a multidisciplinary teaching and research program grounded in statistical methodology, data science, and health informatics. We focus on transforming data into knowledge to improve health outcomes and systems through rigorous analysis, collaborative research, and public health training. Faculty lead and support studies across basic, clinical, and population sciences, with particular expertise in aging, cancer, chronic disease, and health disparities. Our work spans methodological development, study design, data management, and statistical analysis, forming a core foundation for graduate education, research infrastructure, and cross-institutional collaboration at UTMB and beyond.
