Description
Dr. Landay is Vice President of Team Science and Professor in the Departments of Internal
Medicine and Microbiology and Immunology at University Texas Medical Branch Galveston. Dr. Landay will serve on the BEAT-HIV Collaboratory Clinical Trial Development Group (CTDG). Dr. Landay has close to 40 years’ experience in the field of HIV basic and translational research. He has worked extensively in clinical trials development for HIV for the past 30 years having been an investigator with the AIDS Clinical Trials Group since its inception in 1987. He has served innumerous leadership roles with the group including being Chair of the immunology Research Agenda Committee and Chair of the Therapeutic Vaccine Committee. He has been funded as an Immunology Support Laboratory for the group for 30 years and currently serves as Scientific Director of Labs for the ACTG. He is a member of the HIV Cure Transformative Science Group and is the consulting immunologist to the TSG for protocol development for HIV Cure studies. Dr.Landay also serves as Co-Chair for the International AIDS Society HIV Cure Industry Collaborative Group where he works with industry and community partners in moving novel therapeutic strategies for HIVE Cure into further development. Dr. Landay will work closely with the BEAT-HIV Collaboratory PIs Drs. Montaner, Siliciano and Riley on development of clinical protocols to test the novel strategies that evolve from the grant.
