Description

1. Review and contribute to single-IRB protocol applications and amendments. 2. Implement all aspects of IRB-approved study protocol including participant recruitment, assessment, and retention at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), and delivery, documentation, and assessment of healthcare chaplain services and intercessory prayer, respectively, in the “active” and “control” arms of the trial. 3. Enroll a total of 72 eligible Black advanced cancer patients to participate in the trial over a period of 4 years (~18 patients/year), conduct two (baseline + follow-up) patient assessment interviews per enrolled patient, and obtain study-related information from their medical records. 4. Store at UTMB and transfer to Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) all participant data collected at UTMB via IRB and HIPAA compliant protocols. 5. Frequent, ongoing communications with WCM MPI’s (monthly) and research team (weekly) to track progress towards aims and proposed work. 6. Contribute to data interpretation and dissemination.
