Project Details

Description

1. Dr. Rossi will serve as the primary contract between the UTMB and the PI of Core D. She will ensure data are provided to the group in a timely manner, including adhering to the new data reporting regulations, annual progress reports and any interactions with the Program Officer. 2. Conduct research, primarily in vivo and supporting assays, pertaining to the needs of Projects requiring our facility/expertise. This includes: a. Maintaining all regulatory and compliance documentation pertaining to animal work in the BSL3 and BSL4, and select agent records if necessary. This includes all NOU, IACUC, biosafety documentation and communications with ARC. b. Provide all training to laboratory personnel to work in the BSL3 and BSL4 with the mouse model. c. Provide opportunities for personnel to present their data internally and at domestic meetings, including at U19 annual meetings. d. Writing manuscripts or reports promptly as the data are generated, including all analyses and regulated data reporting requirements. Lab members will be instrumental in writing these manuscripts as part of their training. e. Provide data to collaborators in a timely manner. 3. Participate in regular communications between all institutions. Meetings are anticipated to be virtual and held at least monthly initially and will include a large virtual kick-off meeting where the various groups and interact. Meetings will be attended not only by the Aim PIs, but also their staff as budgets and scope permit. One of the goals is to provide a venue for younger scientists to present their data. Opportunities for future collaborations will be discussed. In-person meetings are anticipated to also regularly occur at joint offsite conferences and travel to the various scientific conferences. 4. Supervise all personnel who work as a part of Core D, including technicians, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Trainees will be provided any training required to complete these studies. Further, Dr. Rossi and Dr. Freiberg will mentor the trainees in how to design, conduct, analyze and report experiments and data. She will provide them with opportunities to discuss their findings and attend meeting with the overall group to foster connections and build networks.
