Description

Dr. Busby is an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Her research focuses on three primary areas: 1) identification of effective interventions relevant for adolescents and emerging adults at risk for suicide and/or exposed to traumatic stressors; 2) identification of barriers to mental health service use, including the examination of engagement with crisis hotline risk management services among youth at elevated risk for suicide; 3) effects of traumatic and environmental stressors on psychological and academic outcomes for adolescents and emerging adults, and the identification of relevant protective factors. Dr. Busby is committed to these specific areas of research, with a particular expertise with Black youth and families. Dr. Busby will contribute to the project through the interpretation and dissemination of research findings, and through her experience working with Black youth and interpreting findings in the context of Black youth experiences
