Using Machine Learning Algorithms to Determine the Impact of the Interaction between Behavioral Health and Social Determinants of Health on Disparities in Lung Cancer Screening

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This study aims to investigate the relationship among individuals' behavioral health, social determinants of health, and disparities in lung cancer screening uptake, with a particular focus on minority populations. The findings will inform individualized and systematic approaches to increase screening uptake and address the unique challenges faced by these groups. The candidate will work closely with AIM-AHEAD mentors and the OCHIN data analytic team to learn advanced ML methods and develop sophisticated analytic strategies for this study and future research on health service access barriers and facilitators. The results of this study will serve as preliminary data for subsequent studies on lung cancer screening adherence and outcomes. The skills and knowledge gained from this experience will provide a foundation for expanding research in this area.
