Abstract
Neurofibromatosis is a congenital neuroectodermal and mesodermal dysplastic disease with autosomal dominant inheritance. Almost any organ in the body can be involved, either primarily or secondarily. There is an increased propensity for development of neoplasm in this disease, and in this regard, acoustic schwannomas are relatively common. In addition, these tumors frequently are bilateral, and in neurofibromatosis, an enlarged internal auditory canal is considered highly suggestive of the presence of such a tumor. However, the authors report a patient with bilaterally enlarged internal auditory canals associated with dural ectasia alone.
