Abstract
Geometric conformal stereotactic radiosurgery treatment plans were compared with intensity modulated plans for four patients using the XPlan and KonRad treatment planning systems. The IMRT plans showed a sparing of critical structures near the target, but at the cost of target dose inhomogeneity. In addition, significant improvement in shaping the dose distribution in concave regions of the target volume was also shown.
