CT multidétecteur et exploration du patient polytraumatisé

A complete evaluation of traumatic lesions is mandatory during the work-up of a polytrauma patient. At the arrival of the trauma patient, lateral cervical spine, chest and pelvis X-ray are performed. Once hemodynamically stabilized, the patient is brought to the CT unit. Multidetector CT allows extensive exploration of brain, cervical spine, thorax, abdomen and pelvis in less than 40 minutes. One third of these 40 minutes is due to patient transportation, one third to image acquisition and one third to image analysis and 2D and 3D image reformations. This new approach allows in a single procedure a complete evaluation of the vital lesions due to trauma.
