    Abstract

Nurse preceptors are crucial in the education of prelicensure nursing students. They need continued education and support to serve as competent preceptors. This article introduces a continuing education module to better prepare them for this role. It covers the initial assessment of the students, the schedule development, how to set boundaries and model clinical reasoning skills, and how to handle some special situations. With training and ongoing support from the hospital and nursing faculty, the nurse preceptors will help produce safe and competent nurses.
