Abstract
A patient with respiratory failure secondary to severe weakness of the respiratory musculature, possibly due to MG, is presented. Thymectomy was proposed since the patient was young, had had severe disease for more than one year, and had not improved adequately with anticholinesterase therapy. Since the diagnostic work-up described above was inconclusive, the diagnosis was confirmed by systemic curare testing.
