Abstract

An example of glomerular capillary endothelial swelling in a primigravid chimpanzee is reported. This lesion is considered to be nearly pathognomonic for pre-eclampsia-eclampsia in humans, and its occurrence in a pregnant chimpanzee must therefore be given considerable weight despite the lack of confirmatory clinical data. Such a lesion has not been previously described in an animal.
