Abstract
Minimally invasive modalities of tissue destruction are being developed using novel energy sources, such as high-intensity focused ultrasound, interstitial laser photocoagulation, microwave coagulation, radiofrequency ablation, and cryoablation. Multimodality treatments, combining these energy sources with advances in imaging, laparoscopy, and endovascular technology, hold great promise for the truly minimally invasive therapies of the future.
