Abstract
The California encephalitis viruses contain two type "A" membrane glycoproteins. The large glycoprotein contains two oligosaccharide species, each with at least one sialylated form. The small glycoprotein contains only the smaller of these oligosaccharide species and two sialylated forms. The large glycoprotein of snowshoe hare (SSH) virus contains four glycoglycosylation sites, whereas the analagous trivittatus (TVT) virus glycoprotein contains only two such sites. The small glycoproteins of both SSH and TVT viruses contain one major and one minor glycosylation site.
