Abstract
A fourth-order synthesized relaxation oscillator (SRO) is proposed. The output exhibits two types of electrical activities; one of these is omnipresent and its function is to control the appearance of the other activity which does not persist at all times. The generic equation of a population of coupled fourth order SRO's is presented along with two illustrative examples which were simulated on a minicomputer. In one example, the four state variables of an isolated fourth-order SRO are investigated. In the other example, the outputs of oscillators in a population of 99 coupled fourth order SRO's are investigated.
