Abstract
By using [RuCl2(η4-COD)]n, COD=cycloocta-1,5-diene (C8H12) or [RuCl2(η6-cym)]2, cym = p-methyl-isopropylbenzene, as precursors, N,N-dialkylcarbamato complexes of ruthenium(II) containing the unsaturated hydrocarbon as ligand have been prepared, namely Ru(O2CNEt2)2(η6-cym), 6, are reported. Compound 6, which represents the first example of a crystallographically established compound with the η6-arene-O2 CNR2 ligand combination, contains both monodentate and bidentate carbamato ligands. The reaction and structural patterns appear to conform systematically to the 18-electron rule for organometallic derivatives.
