Abstract

Inflammation primarily due to immune cell invasion towards the neoplasm is one of the characteristics of cancer milieu. While oxidative stress is one of the mediators of chronic inflammation, it can also activate inflammasomes which have been linked to immunosuppression, angiogenesis, and activation of survival pathways all leading to the development of neoplasm. And polyphenols and flavonoids, which are potent antioxidants, have the potential to protect against inflammasome-associated cancer.
