Abstract
36 cases of proptosis were subjected to orbital ultrasonography. The lesion could be identified in 86% cases and 72.2% cases were correctly diagnosed. Cystic/solid tissue characterization was accurate. It was useful in delineating both non-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions. US is of limited value in assessing extraorbital extension of orbital lesions or paraorbital masses with orbital extension and also in bony abnormalities.
