Research interests

Dr. Elbadawi research interests include outcome research in the fields of structural heart disease, acute coronary syndromes and pulmonary embolism. He has led and contributed to randomized clinical trials, bench and translational research in the field of thrombosis/ aneurysm, as well as multiple registry-based outcomes research. His research work emphasized on improving procedural safety/efficacy for multiple novel catheter-based cardiac interventions, especially in higher risk patient population. His work was published in high-impact journals such as Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, and European Heart Journal. A key project examined temporal trends and outcomes of mechanical complications in patients with acute myocardial infarction, which has been featured on TCTMD, cited in European Society of Cardiology position papers and American Heart Association scientific statements, and referenced in UpToDate. Another important project was a large observational cohort study evaluating anti-platelets use in patients with abdominal aortic, which was published in the Journal of American Medical Association. His work has been cited in major guidelines (e.g., AHA scientific statements, European Society of Cardiology position papers) and featured in media like TCTMD, Medscape, and UpToDate. He has presented numerous presentations at national meetings (e.g., ACC, TCT). His theses explored intracoronary eptifibatide in STEMI and remote ischemic post-conditioning for LV remodeling.
